After work while I was out for a walk, I passed by a small area just at the edge of the woods that is part small stream and smart large puddle. In the water were three mallards, one male and two females. I went back after my walk and took a number of photographs as they went about their business seemingly ignoring me. Since they were moving constantly, I needed a fairly fast shutter speed and it was a cloudy afternoon so my best option was to raise the ISO to 320 and have a shallow depth of field. The images will have a bit more grain than when I shoot with ISO 100. Sometimes it’s about adjusting to the environment and doing the best you can.
The line on the rocks below their feet, marks a higher water line but also indicates how much pollen we have these days.
